Walt and Louise Cole were active in the square dance community, both in the State of Utah and beyond - and primarily for the education of dancers in square, round and contra dancing.
Walt was a 35 year veteran of dancing, calling, cueing and prompting. They were members of Callerlab and Charter members of Roundalab. They were members of Legacy, a group for the education of dancers and on their Executive Board for 4 years before assuming the Chairmanship. They were members of the Northern Utah Callers Council. They attended 18 National Conventions. They were Vice Chairman of Contra and Seminars and on the Bid Session for the 40th National Square Dance Convention in Salt Lake City in 1991.
Walt passed away the year of the first award, about two months before the State Convention where it was presented to Louise, their daughter and two of their grandchildren.
Award recipients are nominated by the square dancers they serve. If you have someone you wish to nominate, please fill out the nomination form and turn it in as soon as possible.
